ELEFUN SNACKIN’ SAFARI - Review and Reader Giveaway

Hasbro’s ELEFUN SNACKIN’ SAFARI will have little ones up and out of their seats as they race around the room trying to pick up silly snacks using Elefun’s trunk. There are three different ways to play - each creating its own safari adventure. By using Elefun’s trunk to grab each snack, players win by being the first to find Eelfun’s Golden Tutti Fruitti snack, collecting all of their matching colors, or collecting the most pairs of matching snacks - depending on which game you choose.

I was excited to have the chance to review ELEFUN SNACKIN’ SAFARI. We already have Hasbro's original ELEFUN game, which we love, so I figured the new game would be fun too......And I was right!  First of all it's just really cute.  The bright blue elephant with a long springy trunk is adorable and funny - definitely giggle inducing.  While it was a little tricky to get the hang of picking up the snack cards with the suction cup end of the trunk at first, it became easier with a little practice.  And although the game comes with three variations of play, our little guy ignored them all and came up with all new games of his own.  It really kept him going and he played with it for over an hour straight out of the box and returned to play again later in the day...which is what I call a hit!

NEW Power Rangers Super Samurai on DVD - Reader Giveaway

Dinosaur Train: August is a BIG, BIG Month - Reader Giveaway

We have lots of news for Dinosaur Train fans. “Big Big Dinosaur Week” episodes will premiere next week, beginning August 13, on PBS KIDS. It will feature four new episodes that follow Buddy, Shiny, Tiny and Don as they discover the largest of the dinosaur species while exploring their natural surroundings. They'll also learn about nocturnal and diurnal animals, sunrises and sunsets, natural art, and geysers. The kick-off episode begins aboard the DINOSAUR TRAIN when the Pteranodon family decides to travel to meet some of the biggest of all dinosaurs. They even sing the song ”The Biggest Dinosaurs,” before meeting Allie Alamosaurus, an enormous and friendly long-necked, plant eating sauropod. Encore broadcasts will run from August 17 to 19th (check your local listings).

Speaking of big.....newly available on August 7 from Golden Books is the 40-page Dinosaur Train: Big, BIG Dinosaurs! Giant Coloring Book! Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, Don, and their super-sized dinosaur friends from Dinosaur Train all star in this BIG book. It features oversized pages to color, more than 50 stickers, and a built-in handle for easy carrying.

We received a book for review and I have to say it's pretty cool.  It really is big and  the pictures are clear and easy to color.  I think there are also way more than 50 stickers, but I didn't actually count them.  I was too busy being embarrassed that a 4-year old knows the names of so many more dinosaurs than I do!

The Oogieloves in the Big Baloon Adventure - Reader Giveaway

Summer Fun with Wonderworld Toys - Wonder Croquet Set Review and Reader Giveaway

As summer continues to blaze on, we have more time for outdoor fun and games.  Wonderworld Toys has two new products that let your little ones have some summer fun while intertwining play value with educational value.

For a bit of fishing with no water involved, there is Wonderworld’s Wonder Fishing Game. This fishing game is not only fun, but it also educates children on color recognition and counting. To play, you just use the wooden rod to hook the fish that matches the color on the dice. Whoever catches the most fish wins!

For some traditional summer fun, kiddy style, the Wonder Croquet Set, lets you enjoy summer outdoors or, on those days that are just too hot or too rainy, can also be played indoors.  Each wicket features a cute brightly-painted animal character.  The set allows kids to develop and enhance hand-eye coordination, along with visual perception skills. 

We had a lot of fun playing with the Wonder Croquet Set.  Each of the wickets has a different motion of the door tilting, flipping up, etc. when the ball rolls through which adds some fun and variety.  (I do recommend making sure your lawn is mowed before playing!  We were dealing with a broken mower and the super long grass made things a little tough!)   Because you can set up the four wickets in any pattern you like, it was fun to arrange them in a straight line, a circle, zig zag, etc to change up the game a little.  The only thing I would like to add would be a second mallet so it would be easier to for two to play at once, although the one mallet does help for encouraging sharing/taking turns.  I was also impressed with the quality of the wood construction and the painting detail.
