Safees Children's Traffic Safety Reflectors - Review and Reader Giveaway

This is a terrible fact to hear, but did you know that on average, a pedestrian is killed in a traffic crash every 120 minutes? Almost two-thirds of pedestrian fatalities occur when the light condition is either dark or dark with street lights.

To reduce traffic accidents and make both children and adults more safe on our roads, Safees has introducing hard prism traffic safety reflectors to the USA.  By wearing a reflector, you increase your visibility to oncoming traffic by anywhere between 300 and 1,000 percent (depending on distance, darkness, weather). That can be the difference between being seen and safe and NOT being seen and placed in danger

Safees are hard prism reflectors that you attach to your clothing at knee or thigh height. Since they swing freely, facing traffic, they reflect oncoming cars’ headlights and increase your visibility and alert drivers so they have time to stop or steer around you.

Scandinavian countries have the world's best traffic safety records and reflectors are in common use. In fact in Sweden every school child wears one and traffic fatalities involving children are the lowest in the world (WHO: Global Status report on Road Safety).

I recently received Safees to test out and I like them.  I often go walking in the evening and I get a bit concerned about traffic.  (There isn't a lot of traffic in our small town, but there also aren't a lot of pedestrians so drivers aren't always on the lookout for people.)  With the Safees I can either clip it directly to my clothing, or wrap it around a wrist.  The Safees come with a pin and string attachment, or you can get an optional spiral attachment.  I loved the attachment, because it made it really easy and comfortable to wear on my wrist and quick to put on and off.  (The pictures I have here show the optional spiral attachment .)

There are also lots of cute designs to choose from.  They have bears, hearts, dinos, dogs, cats, cars and cell phones - so there will be something to appropriate whether you're looking for a little boy or girl or for adult men or women.

I felt much more safe walking at dusk (I kept hoping cars would come by so I could test it!)  I'm also going to start putting one on our dog, Toby, who usually accompanies me on late night walks.  He is very dark and Safees on his color will help keep him safe too!

Reader Giveaway:  One lucky Jinxy Kids reader will win 5 Safees.  To enter, just complete the entry form below by 11:50 pm ET on 8/24/12.  Good luck!
